**Clockify is most appealing to freelancers,** consultants, small agencies, and small teams looking for **time tracking software that is easy to learn and affordable to start with**. Reviews on G2 and Capterra are largely positive, with users often praising the easy setup and straightforward day-to-day tracking.

The recurring complaints point elsewhere: **mobile syncing can be unreliable, more involved workflows expose limitations, and the 2026 changes to the Free plan frustrated some long-time users.**

| How do we review software in TimeCamp? A human is behind every word posted here. We value our users’ time and trust, so you can be sure our team (Ola, Wojtek, Kasia, Iza, Robert, and others) spent real hours testing the apps, and then researching, briefing, and writing this article. Our editorial team has 10+ years of experience writing SaaS content, including testing and using a variety of tools daily. Our writers are also app users, so we write our recommendations based on what we would read as potential clients. Our main rule is “do not cover without a source.”We also revisit and update our articles to cover notable changes to the app’s features or pricing (at least quarterly). ## Clockify reviews 2026: key takeaways

| Clockify gets strong feedback for everyday time tracking, particularly from freelancers, consultants, and small teams managing work across multiple projects or clients. Ease of use is the clearest strength. Reviewers praise the intuitive user interface, simple timer, and short learning curve. The generous free plan helped build Clockify’s reputation, but the 2026 changes added a five-user limit and moved some capabilities to paid plans. The Clockify app gets more mixed feedback on mobile. Sync problems, slower performance, and fewer options than the web app appear repeatedly in reviews. Projects can be color-coded for easy identification. Users can also set time estimates and organize work by clients, projects, and tasks. Clockify still lacks advanced project management tools such as Gantt charts. Users can export reports as CSV, XLSX, or PDF files, depending on their plan. Free includes PDF exports, and Basic or higher adds CSV and Excel/XLSX. Clockify connects with Google Calendar, Outlook, and popular project management tools. Its browser extension brings the timer into 90+ web apps. Clockify offers 24/7 customer support via phone, email, and live chat. Some third-party sources report 1-3 minute live chat responses, although Clockify doesn’t currently guarantee that response time. |

## How do customers rate Clockify on G2, Capterra, Trustpilot, and TrustRadius in 2026?

| Item | Current status |
| --- | --- |
| G2 rating | 4.5/5 from 202 reviews as of September 2026 |
| Capterra rating | 4.8/5 from 9,262 reviews as of September 2026 |
| Trustpilot TrustScore | 3.2/5 from 82 reviews as of September 2026 |
| TrustRadius | 8.6/10 from 81 reviews and ratings as of September 2026 |
| Free plan | Up to 5 users, with unlimited time tracking and projects |
| Starting paid price | Basic from $3.99 per user/month, billed annually |
| Best known for | Simple time tracking and strong free-plan value for solo users and very small teams |

**Trustpilot is noticeably more critical.** *Recent reviews there focus heavily on features removed from Free* and the way those changes were communicated. Its much smaller review pool paints a harsher picture than G2 and Capterra.

**We hundreds dozens of recent reviews across all three platforms and checked product details against current Clockify documentation.**

## How did we analyze Clockify reviews?

**We read hundreds and chose 60 Clockify user reviews to analyze across G2, Capterra, Trustpilot, and TrustRadius. We focused mainly on feedback from 2025 and 2026 and selected 12 reviews covering the full 1-to-5-star range.** We treated a praise or complaint as a pattern only when it appeared repeatedly across a wide sample and more than one platform. **One-off experiences were treated as anecdotal or left out.**

| Quotes in this article illustrate those patterns rather than establish them on their own. |
| --- |

Each one is attributed with the reviewer name as shown, platform, and review date. **We also created a Clockify Free workspace and checked several points ourselves**, including mobile and desktop sync, editing past time entries, **and the current Free-plan limits**.

## What do users praise about Clockify?

### The free plan still shapes how users see Clockify’s value

Clockify earned much of its reputation by giving solo users and small teams a useful time tracking tool at no cost. Reviews from freelancers and small businesses often say the free version covers the basics they need across multiple projects and clients.

People using Clockify mainly to record client work can get meaningful value before a paid upgrade enters the picture. **The free plan remains attractive for basic time tracking, straightforward time management, and simple project records.**

### The interface takes little time to learn

Ease of use is one of the clearest themes across Clockify reviews. Users regularly describe the web app as intuitive, with a clean interface and a timer that takes little explanation.

![a screenshot of clockify review from G2](https://www.timecamp.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/clockify-reviews-2.jpeg)Kurt G., Fractional CHRO, small business (50 or fewer employees). G2, 4/5, April 29, 2026. Author’s screenshot.

Angelita D.’s review follows the same pattern: **she highlights the no-fuss setup**, easy-to-follow instructions, and how quickly a small team can start using the app.

![a screenshot of clockify review from Capterra](https://www.timecamp.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/clockify-reviews-3.jpeg)Angelita D., Virtual Assistant in real estate, 2+ years using Clockify. Capterra, 5/5, April 8, 2026. Author’s screenshot.

**Our hands-on test matched that feedback**. Creating a workspace and **starting Clockify’s time tracker took only a few steps.** The desktop app also offers idle detection and Auto Tracker. Pomodoro reminders are available there too, giving users a few extra ways to shape their tracking habits.

| If you want a closer look at how Clockify works, our in-depth overview covers the setup, core workflow, and product basics in more detail. |

### Editing time entries makes imperfect tracking less of a problem

Clockify is more about [manual time tracking.](https://www.timecamp.com/blog/automated-time-tracking-vs-manual-tracking-which-is-best-for-your-business/)
**Manual mode lets users add forgotten work**, correct time spent, or adjust an entry later.

This flexibility comes up often in reviews from people switching between projects or clients during the day. **Paid plans also support split time entries,** which helps when a single block of recorded time needs to be divided between different tasks.

![a screenshot of clockify review from Capterra](https://www.timecamp.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/clockify-reviews-4.jpeg)Maggie L., Digital Marketing Manager in marketing and advertising, 2+ years using Clockify. Capterra, 4/5, July 10, 2026. Author’s screenshot.

| Some summaries state that Clockify’s timer mode requires project and task details before saving. |
| --- |

Current Clockify documentation is more specific. **A project is optional in the standard Time Tracker**, and task details are not required by default. Admins on paid plans can make Project, Task, Tag, or Description mandatory. **If the Timesheet page is enabled, Project becomes a required field.**

### Reporting answers practical questions quickly

Reporting earns positive feedback because it gives users a clear picture of where their hours went. **Summary and Detailed reports organize time data by project, client, task, or user.** The dashboard adds visual charts for project time and billable status.

![a screenshot of clockify review from G2](https://www.timecamp.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/clockify-reviews-5.jpeg)Rahul C., Senior System Administrator in IT and services, mid-market (51-1000 employees). G2, 5/5, January 27, 2026. Author’s screenshot.

Clockify also includes **Time Audit on paid plans**, helping teams spot incomplete or suspicious entries before the data reaches project billing. Cleaner records are useful when teams need to bill clients accurately or check **how much work specific projects actually consumed**.

![a screenshot of clockify review from Capterra](https://www.timecamp.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/clockify-reviews-6.jpeg)Joy C., Founder in accounting, 2+ years using Clockify. Capterra, 5/5, August 3, 2026. Author’s screenshot.

## Where do users run into limits with Clockify?

### Mobile and sync issues are the most consistent technical complaint

Clockify’s mobile app covers timer and manual entries, along with offline tracking. **Reviews still point to sync and performance problems**, **especially for people moving between phone and desktop during the day.**

Chris Z. describes **occasional synchronization issues in a team split between office and field work**.

![a screenshot of clockify review from G2](https://www.timecamp.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/clockify-reviews-7.jpeg)Chris Z., Web Department Supervisor, small business (50 or fewer employees). G2, 5/5, March 12, 2026. Author’s screenshot.

Erica M., after more than two years using Clockify, mentions **slow loading and connectivity problems, as well as an iPhone app she considers dated.**

Offline entries are designed to sync after the connection returns. The criticism concerns how reliable that handoff feels in daily use.

![a screenshot of clockify review from G2](https://www.timecamp.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/clockify-reviews-8.jpeg)Erica M., Administrative Assistant in health, wellness and fitness, 2+ years using Clockify. Capterra, 4/5, March 23, 2026. Author’s screenshot.

### Advanced features can push users toward paid plans

The Free plan covers core time tracking, but more advanced needs move into Clockify’s paid plans. **Clockify supports billable time calculation and project budgeting, although access depends on the plan.** Billable rates start with Basic, and monetary project budgets are available on Pro and Enterprise.

GPS is another example. Samantha R. treated its absence in her plan as a drawback for employee records, and CAKE.com replied that GPS is available on Pro. Her review shows how a feature can look missing when it actually sits higher in the pricing structure.

![a screenshot of clockify review from G2](https://www.timecamp.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/clockify-reviews-9.jpeg)Samantha R., MA, hospital and health care, less than 6 months using Clockify. Capterra, 4/5, August 5, 2026. Author’s screenshot.

| Worth knowing: Clockify Pro costs $7.99 per user/month when billed annually and includes GPS tracking, labor cost and profit, expenses, forecasting, and project budgets. Enterprise costs $11.99 per user/month annually. New workspaces get a 7-day trial of Pro features. |
| --- |

### The 2026 Free-plan changes altered the value equation

Clockify built much of its reputation around a generous free version, so the 2026 restrictions triggered a strong response from existing users. **Free workspaces now allow five active users**, and reports cover a maximum **31-day range per query**.

The change also affected people using Clockify to track **billable hours**. Billable rates and billable status now require Basic or higher. **Ivan P. rated Clockify 1/5 after billable functionality moved out of Free**, explaining that it had been one of the main reasons he used the software.

![a screenshot of clockify review from Capterra](https://www.timecamp.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/clockify-reviews-10.jpeg)Ivan P., Senior Software Engineer in IT and services, 6-12 months using Clockify. Capterra, 1/5, June 15, 2026. Author’s screenshot.

### Larger setups expose more limits

The complaints change as teams add more projects and demand more from their reports. Navpreet K. points to **limited customization and reporting for larger teams or complex projects**, along with **slower mobile performance.**

![a screenshot of clockify review from Capterra](https://www.timecamp.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/clockify-reviews-11.jpeg)Navpreet K., manager in investment management, 6-12 months using Clockify. Capterra, 5/5, May 15, 2026. Author’s screenshot.

Jack C. focuses on day-to-day admin. **Correcting entries and switching tasks can take more effort when the workflow becomes more involved.**

![a screenshot of clockify review from G2](https://www.timecamp.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/clockify-reviews-12.jpeg)Jack C., Digital Specialist, small business (50 or fewer employees). G2, 5/5, December 9, 2025. Author’s screenshot.

Some sources also **describe Clockify as lacking reusable custom report templates.**

| The current product is more nuanced: paid users can save export customization settings, but building fully custom reports still relies on CSV or Excel exports and external tools such as spreadsheets. |
| --- |

## Who is Clockify a good fit for?

**Clockify works well for freelancers, consultants, small agencies, startups, and small teams that mainly need clear records of their working time.** Reviewers often praise the timer, easy corrections, and the ability to organize client work across several projects.

Project tracking stays fairly light. Teams can create projects, add tasks, assign work to specific users, and review recorded hours later in Summary or Detailed reports.

**Clockify is most convincing when reliable time tracking means accurate records with little daily admin.** Small businesses that mainly need basic reporting and simple client or project organization are less likely to run into the limits described elsewhere in the reviews.

## When Clockify may no longer be the best fit

The limits show up faster as a team starts asking more from the Free plan. **The current free version allows** **five active users**. Billable rates start with Basic, invoicing and time approval with Standard, and monetary project budgets with Pro or Enterprise. If tracked hours are already feeding client billing and [project profitability](https://www.timecamp.com/time-tracking/billing/)
, **the entry-level plans can start to feel cramped.**

**Clockify lacks geofencing, unlike some competitors.** GPS tracking is available on Pro and Enterprise, but automatic location-based clock-ins and clock-outs are still listed on the public roadmap. Field teams working across defined job sites will notice that gap more than desk-based users.

Payroll brings another catch. **Clockify does not offer direct payroll integration with QuickBooks Payroll.** The platform can send tracked time to QuickBooks Online for billing and accounting, but the connection stops working when Payroll is enabled. Hours can still be exported for payroll in other apps.

**TimeCamp keeps unlimited users and projects on Free, includes invoicing in Starter, and adds financial reporting around project profitability in Premium.** It may simply fit better when billable-hour recovery and profitability start playing a bigger role in how your team works.

## Clockify reviews FAQ

### Is Clockify good?

Yes, particularly for users who want straightforward time tracking with useful reporting and little setup. Summary reports include visual charts, and Detailed reports show individual entries.

Clockify also includes a **Pomodoro timer for focused work sessions**, which gives users another option for structuring work alongside regular timer-based tracking.

### Is Clockify worth it?

It depends on the plan and team size. Basic adds billable rates, Standard brings invoicing and approvals, and Pro adds profitability and forecasting. **Paid plans can also include a dedicated success representative**, but only for qualifying accounts that meet Clockify’s seat thresholds. Clockify stays cost-effective when the features you need sit on the same tier.

### Is Clockify trustworthy and reliable?

Yes. Clockify is operated by CAKE.com and maintains strong aggregate ratings across several major review platforms. **TrustRadius currently scores it 8.6/10 from 81 reviews and ratings**, with users frequently praising ease of use, time tracking, and reporting.

Trustpilot tells a more critical story. **Clockify currently has a 3.2/5 TrustScore there from 82 reviews**, with recent criticism focused heavily on billing, service, and the 2026 Free-plan changes. The sample is much smaller than Capterra’s, so we wouldn’t use it to define the overall verdict on its own.

### Is Clockify free in 2026?

Yes. Free supports **up to five active users**, unlimited time tracking, and unlimited projects. Reports are limited to 31 days per query, PDF is the available export format, and billable rates require Basic or higher. Older Clockify reviews may describe the previous unlimited-user offer.

### What do users complain about most?

G2 and Capterra reviews most often point to **mobile performance and syncing**, especially when people switch between devices. Trustpilot criticism looks different, with more attention on the 2026 Free-plan changes and how they were communicated. The pattern therefore depends partly on where you read the reviews.

### How good is the Clockify mobile app?

Clockify’s mobile app is useful for everyday tracking, but user reviews are more mixed than for the web version. Among Clockify’s time tracking apps, the mobile version covers timer and manual entries and also works offline.

Offline mode has limits: users can’t create new projects, tasks, tags, or clients until the connection returns. Clockify also offers Force offline mode when an unstable connection slows the app down. User reviews suggest that synchronization remains the bigger concern than the lack of offline tracking itself.

### Is Clockify secure?

Yes, based on the security controls we found in Clockify’s current documentation. The platform lists **AWS hosting, 256-bit SSL encryption, ISO/IEC 27001 certification, SOC 2 Type II compliance, and GDPR compliance**.

Enterprise adds SSO, SCIM provisioning, and an audit log. We’d still treat these as vendor-documented controls, not as a substitute for your own security or compliance review.

### How good is Clockify customer support?

Clockify provides **24/7 human support by email, live chat, and phone**, backed by an extensive Help Center covering setup, tracking, reports, integrations, apps, and troubleshooting.

Some third-party reviews mention that email responses from Clockify average about **20 minutes**. Clockify itself currently gives a more cautious figure of **under one hour on average**. Qualifying paid accounts can also get a dedicated success representative, depending on the plan and number of seats.
