Your way of thinking about your tasks has a great impact on a way you work, organize your thoughts, and prioritise.

Let’s be super clear here. It is VERY important how you choose to think of your tasks.

There are 3 ways (any suggestions?)

  • Small tasks (no more than 2 hours to make it done), flat list
  • Small tasks (no more than 2 hours to make it done) divided into your different roles in workplace
  • Important projects you want to accomplish with subtasks

Let’s dig into details.

Small tasks (no more than 2 hours to make it done), flat list

It’s very very bad if you are working this style. You are probably far away from bigger picture and context which are projects.

Small tasks (no more than 2 hours to make it done) divided into your different roles in workplace

It’s better than the first one but you still focus on the small tasks accomplishment. You are “get done” oriented and you are probably proud if you accomplish every tiny task. But this way of thinking is also very bad for you. It kills the “get bigger things done” concept because you focus on small tasks instead of more important projects.

Important projects you want to accomplish with subtasks

This is the best way of thinking about what to do during your day. You see a bigger picture here. You are focused on getting things done and as a result you do your tasks more quickly. It is a highly advised way of thinking.
