Setting a goal and then achieving it requires willpower and readiness to start working on it as quickly as possible. The sooner it will happen, the closer you will become successful. And let’s be honest, the first step is the hardest one, but also the most important.

When I started setting goals and wanted to achieve them effectively, I got familiar with the method called S.M.A.R.T. It defines five attributes of goals. It is just easier to achieve goal which is specific, measurable, attainable (or action-oriented), relevant and time-bounded (or trackable).

Goals, which need to be specific, should be precisely defined. I think such aims have a bigger impact on motivation and there is a bigger possibility to stay on the track. So it is important to pinpoint what you want to achieve – for example for me it could be spending 1 hour less on non-productive apps daily, what would help me be more focused on my important tasks that need to be done.

To notice the progress made, you need to measure the results. Those will tell you how close you are to your point. Using TimeCamp in your everyday work can help you measure the level of your headway in achieving some goals, so there is no need to bother yourself and track it on your own.

As setting your goals, you also need to remember about attainability and relevance. It is about examining your current situation (schedule, capabilities, habits and so on) and remembering that your goals need to be realistic and relate to your real life/work situation. What is more, your goal need to be trackable. It means that it needs to have a deadline or defined time period.

TimeCamp helps you manage your goals! Everything you need is easy to find in Reports section. Just open it and then choose the Time of the computer option and then Goals.

If you want to create a new goal, just click on a green “+Add goal”.

Choose the available options from: computer, category (which gives you multiplicity of options – like office, developer tools, email, graphics), productive apps and non-productive apps. Then edit a category – decide whether you want to spend more or less time on the chosen activity and type, how many hours you need to achieve a goal. Afterwards, just start your work and see how easy it is to achieve your goals with TimeCamp!
