What is Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)?

Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) is a certification offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI). It is designed to demonstrate an individual’s understanding of the fundamental knowledge, processes, and terminology used in project management. The CAPM certification is intended for those who are new to project management or have limited experience in the field.

The CAPM certification is based on the PMI’s Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide). This guide outlines the five process groups and nine knowledge areas that are essential for successful project management. The CAPM exam tests an individual’s knowledge of these topics and their ability to apply them to real-world scenarios.

Requirements for Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)

In order to become certified as a CAPM, individuals must meet certain requirements. These include having at least 1,500 hours of project experience or 23 hours of formal education related to project management. Additionally, individuals must pass the CAPM exam, which consists of 150 multiple-choice questions.

Once an individual has met all the requirements and passed the exam, they will be awarded with their CAPM certification. This certification must be renewed every five years by completing 60 professional development units (PDUs). PDUs can be earned through activities such as attending conferences or taking courses related to project management.
