If you consider becoming one, this may be an article just for you. More and more people make a decision to choose this career path. And the trend does not seem to be stopping. Perhaps, one day the huge office skyscrapers will have to be changed into apartment complexes? So the employees will be able to work from their homes. Or street bars, coffee houses, shopping centers or whatever place that offers free Wi-Fi.

Why is it so popular? There are really dozens of arguments for it, while it is hard to find some against. If I were to write a post about the disadvantages of remote working, I might not be able to name five sensible reasons. Luckily, this article focuses on the reasons why people want to work remotely, so my task should be much easier.

Are you planning to start working remotely? The list of arguments below may convince you to do so. Also, once you start, you may find yourself in need for a time tracker. Try TimeCamp, the best work time tracking app on the market! Sign up for free.

Below, you will find 10 solid arguments that people find convincing enough, to leave their office and start working from home (or to want that, because not everyone can.)

1.  It is less stressful

This should not be a surprise. After all, “there is not place like home.” And even though we have a work to do, it does not seem to be that much of a burden, when one is in his/her personal space, not disturbed by any external disruptions.  How does it look in practice? Check the statistics:

2. It boosts employees’ engagement.

Surprisingly, studies prove that working from home strengthens our bonds with other colleagues and supervisors. Apparently, with the technology enabling all sorts of contact (well, besides personal), people make strong connections just by chatting or talking with each other through voice communicators. That is most likely because we are more honest and sincere on the Internet.

3. It enhances employees’ productivity

According to the research conducted in 2015 by TINYpulse, 91% of remote workers said they felt more productive once they started working at home. Only 9 out of 100 people do not feel more productive when they start working remotely. People are performing much better when working alone.

4. There is a chance to earn more

Why? This is pretty simple. If a company reduces the number of office workers, and for example, allows half of them to work remotely, they can change office into a smaller one and pay less for it. The costs of electricity, water, maintaining hardware and buying the new one are also considerably reduced. And if a company saves so much, the management will be much more willing to raise our salary.

5. It has a positive influence on our health.

While your office cubicle limits your room for maneuver, your room offers the limitless possibilities. You can adjust your screen and chair to work as comfortably as possible. Short stretching once in a while and turning your eyes from the screen to let them rest won’t get you into trouble with the boss. Also, you are not relying on the food from the company’s cafeteria or nearby food truck – you can make your own, healthy meals.

6. Preferred by the younger generations.

A possibility to work remotely offered in a company drastically increases the interest of potential, young employees. The trend is becoming so popular that sooner or later most of the businesses will have to implement this option. The working environment is after all, essential.

7. Positive effect on the environment

We already discussed the reduction in costs, once the company allows remote workers, and saves on bills and office space. Now, let’s move from finances to the bigger picture – the environment. The reduced use of electricity and heating reduces the waste of non-renewable resources. The fact that workers can stay at home, instead of commuting to work also positively affects our planet.

8. Freedom of choice

When working remotely, we decide the terms on which we want to work. Some people are night owls and prefer to work in the evenings, while others are the early birds, and are up as soon as at 5 AM. The ability to create our personal graphic is a huge asset of remote working.

9. No more commuting!

The environment is one thing, but our mental and physical condition is as much important. Studies prove that commuting to work reduces one’s life satisfaction while raising anxiety. After all, who likes to spend a whole morning in a crowded bus or subway?

10. Happiness

Last on the list but probably the most important of all. We are only happy when the job we are doing satisfies us and we feel good about it. Well, it turns out that it is much easier to feel good about our job when we work remotely.
