Best Apploye Alternatives for Time Tracking in 2026

TimeCamp, Time Doctor, Traqq, Hubstaff, Jibble, Connecteam, Monitask, Insightful, DeskTime, and ActivTrak make this shortlist of Apploye alternatives, in no particular order. The catch is the plan you’ll actually need. Low headline pricing loses its appeal when the feature you came for requires an upgrade or a paid add-on.

When your team pushes back on screenshot tracking, it’s worth reviewing which monitoring features you actually need. Apploye lets administrators disable screenshots and app or website tracking, so changing those settings could resolve the issue. Sometimes, though, the gap goes beyond monitoring. Agencies need to connect project hours to client billing and costs. Crews moving between job sites need records showing where those hours were logged.

How do we review software in TimeCamp?

People lead our research and editorial decisions. We check product claims against vendors’ pricing pages and help centers, then examine independent customer feedback on G2 and Capterra. Our research follows one rule: do not cover without a source.

For this guide, we checked which features each subscription includes and calculated costs for a sample team. We included attributed customer feedback and documented drawbacks for every product, including TimeCamp. We do not offer favorable mentions in exchange for payments.

Why look for an Apploye alternative?

A free plan can cover your headcount and still fall short on client work. Apploye Starter supports up to ten users but limits invoicing to three clients. A six-person agency with a dozen active accounts hits that billing ceiling long before it needs another seat.

Screenshot tracking raises a different question: what do you need to verify? With capture enabled, the platform captures periodic screenshots of an employee’s screen, which may include sensitive data from client work. A team that needs project hours for billing may have little use for that visual record. Apploye lets you disable capture, and some alternatives leave it out of the product entirely.

Idle time detection also deserves a check against your team’s workday. Someone listening to a client call may barely touch the keyboard or mouse. Once that inactivity exceeds the configured threshold, Apploye can mark the session as idle time. That label can include legitimate work. Apploye acknowledges the meeting scenario and lets you adjust detection settings or ask employees whether to keep the time.

A crew spending the day on the road has a more concrete gap to close. Apploye doesn’t offer GPS tracking or geofencing. Project hours won’t confirm that a technician clocked in at the assigned building; location-based attendance requires another tool.

Then there’s the add-on stack. At standard annual rates, Elite costs USD 4.50 per user per month. Add Activity Insights at USD 3 and Advanced API & MCP at USD 1, and the total reaches USD 8.50 per user per month, above Power’s USD 8 rate, which includes both. SSO and audit logs still require an Enterprise quote. Price the configuration your team needs before comparing vendors, and run the same calculation for the replacement.

Apploye competitors in 2026 at a glance

The table shows entry-level paid prices in USD, expressed per month with annual billing. Features mentioned in the second column aren’t necessarily included at that rate; Hubstaff’s GPS tools, for example, require Team plus the Locations add-on.

G2 and Capterra ratings checked in October 2026. Scores are out of 5; review counts appear in parentheses.

Hubstaff’s field setup starts with Team at USD 10/seat/month plus Locations at USD 3.33/seat/month, both billed annually: USD 13.33 per seat/month combined. Connecteam charges by hub, so its Operations price doesn’t include separate paid Communications or HR subscriptions.

A quick note on platforms: Apploye also offers a native Linux desktop app. A mobile companion app doesn’t necessarily reproduce the desktop features, and ActivTrak’s ChromeOS agent captures browser activity only.

TimeCamp

What it fixes about Apploye? TimeCamp removes Apploye’s ten-user free-plan ceiling and adds GPS tracking for teams whose work extends beyond a computer.

a screenshot of hero section of timecamp homepage

TimeCamp puts project profitability front and center, promising AI-powered time records, automated approvals, and deep reporting, with no credit card needed to start. Author’s screenshot, October 2026.

What it is. TimeCamp records work hours against projects and tasks for freelancers and project-based agencies, with billing tools available on paid plans. Automatic time tracking in its Standard Desktop App uses configured keywords in window titles and URLs; manual timers and time entries are also available. A client name in a document title, for instance, can route that time directly to the matching task after you’ve set up the rule.

Key features against Apploye

  • Apploye’s free plan stops at ten users; TimeCamp Free covers unlimited users and projects.

  • Apploye doesn’t offer location tracking; TimeCamp includes GPS on Free through its mobile app. An administrator must enable it, and location recording requires a running mobile timer.

  • Apploye offers screenshot capture that administrators can disable; TimeCamp’s screenshots are optional, off by default, and require Ultimate.

  • Apploye includes timesheet approvals on Elite; TimeCamp reserves them for Ultimate. Moving the team over won’t necessarily reduce the cost of that requirement.

Pricing. From USD 3.99 per user per month, billed annually, for Starter. Ten users cost the equivalent of USD 39.90/month, charged as USD 478.80 annually; a permanent Free plan supports unlimited users.

What costs extra. Invoicing starts on Starter. Billable time starts on Premium at USD 6.99/user/month, billed annually; billable rates, labor costs, expense tracking, approvals, and optional screenshots require Ultimate at USD 9.99/user/month, billed annually. A ten-person team needing hourly rates pays the equivalent of USD 99.90/month, compared with Starter’s USD 39.90.

Platforms. Web, Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. Mobile users get fewer management controls than those working in the browser.

Pros and cons

Pros

Cons

Free workspace accommodates a growing team

Hourly rates and labor-cost calculations require Ultimate

Keyword rules assign time to configured tasks

Approvals require a higher tier than Apploye Elite

Mobile GPS is available on Free

Initial setup takes some planning, especially across multiple clients

His criticism concerns switching between manual entry and the live timer.

Time Doctor

What it fixes about Apploye. Time Doctor adds peer benchmarking and work-life balance reporting for teams that want more analysis alongside screenshot-based records.

a screenshot of hero section of time doctor homepage

Time Doctor pitches “workforce visibility for distributed teams” with “See the work. Trust the numbers.” and cards that flag burnout risk and rank productive time. Author’s screenshot, October 2026.

What it is. Time Doctor tracks project hours through desktop and mobile apps, with reports and account management in the web app. Standard adds attendance records and detailed reports on app and website usage. Salesforce, Jira, and Basecamp connections use its browser extension, so that setup involves more than connecting two accounts.

Key features against Apploye

  • Apploye reports your team’s activity; Time Doctor’s Benchmarks AI adds comparisons with matched teams. It’s included on Premium and available as an add-on below that tier.

  • Apploye reserves SSO for Enterprise; Time Doctor includes it on Premium and sells it separately on lower plans.

  • Apploye offers a 10-day trial; Time Doctor gives you a 14-day free trial with Premium features.

Pricing. From USD 6.67 per user per month, billed annually, for Basic, or approximately USD 66.70/month for ten users. There’s no permanent free plan; the 14-day trial doesn’t require a credit card.

What costs extra. Scheduling and payroll require Standard. Software Cost Insights costs USD 3/user/month on eligible lower plans, and native HRIS and payroll integrations each cost USD 200/integration/month. One HRIS connection plus one payroll connection adds USD 400/month to the subscription, regardless of a small team’s lower seat bill.

Platforms. Web, Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS, plus Chrome and Firefox tracking extensions. The web dashboard itself doesn’t run a timer.

Pros and cons

Pros

Cons

Basic includes screenshots and offline tracking

No permanent free plan

Premium includes peer benchmarking

Lower-tier add-ons increase the subscription cost

SSO is available below Enterprise

GPS tracking isn’t documented in its published feature list

Traqq

What it fixes about Apploye? Traqq gives teams task-based timesheets and approvals, with no screenshot capture or activity scoring built into the product.

a screenshot of hero section of traqq homepage

Traqq promises team and project visibility “without surveillance,” with schedules, timesheets, and client invoices listed right under the hero. Author’s screenshot, October 2026.

What it is. Traqq builds automated timesheets from timers or manual entries, linking recorded hours to projects and billing status. Managers review submitted timesheets and compare recorded hours with planned capacity. Entries recorded without an internet connection sync once you’re back online.

Key features against Apploye

  • Apploye offers screenshot and activity tracking that administrators can disable; Traqq leaves out screen capture, idle detection, and app and website usage tracking entirely.

  • Apploye requires Elite for timesheet approvals; Traqq includes approvals and individual or project rates on Free.

  • Apploye Free supports ten users and invoicing for three clients; Traqq Free allows three users and one project, and invoicing starts on Business.

Pricing. From USD 3.40 per user per month, billed annually, for Plus: USD 34/month for ten users, charged as USD 408 annually. Free supports three users and one project; paid plans have a 14-day free trial with no payment details required.

What costs extra. Plus supports up to ten users. Invoicing and workload analysis require Business, from USD 7.65/user/month, billed annually. A ten-person team that wants to bill clients directly from Traqq pays the equivalent of USD 76.50/month, even though Plus covers its headcount.

Platforms. Web, Windows, macOS, and browser extensions. No native Android or iOS app is listed among the current tracking options.

Pros and cons

Pros

Cons

No screenshots or app usage collection

Free is limited to one project

Hubstaff

What it fixes about Apploye? Hubstaff adds GPS tracking and geofenced clock-ins for crews working at client locations, two capabilities Apploye doesn’t offer.

a screenshot of hero section of hubstaff homepage

Hubstaff positions itself as time tracking software for hybrid workforces, combining employee time tracking, productivity metrics, and automated payments. Author’s screenshot, October 2026.

What it is. Hubstaff combines employee time tracking with desktop monitoring and field attendance. A manager can review a contractor’s project hours and a technician’s job-site visits in the same system. That works for teams split between desk work and driving between appointments.

Key features against Apploye

  • GPS tracking: Apploye’s activity tracking doesn’t show where field hours were recorded; Hubstaff adds that context through mobile location data.

  • Geofenced timers: Hubstaff can start or stop the timer automatically when employees enter or leave geofenced job sites. Reminders and restrictions on off-site clock-ins are also available; Apploye has no geofencing equivalent.

  • Approval costs: Hubstaff reserves timesheet approvals for Team, starting at USD 10 per seat/month annually. Apploye includes them in Elite at USD 4.50, so this feature costs more after switching.

Pricing. Starter costs USD 4.99 per seat/month with annual billing, or USD 49.90/month for ten users, with a two-seat minimum. There’s a 14-day free trial without a credit card and no free team plan.

What costs extra. Here’s the catch for field teams: GPS and geofencing require Team plus the Locations add-on. At annual rates, that’s USD 10 plus USD 3.33 per seat/month, bringing ten users to approximately USD 133.30/month. Add-ons apply across the organization, including seats assigned to office staff.

Platforms. Web, Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS, plus Chrome and Firefox extensions.

Pros and cons

Pros

Cons

Desktop and field hours in one system

Locations requires Team plus an add-on

Jibble

What it fixes about Apploye? Jibble removes Apploye’s ten-user free-plan ceiling and adds attendance verification for employees working away from a computer.

a screenshot of hero section of jibble homepage

Jibble leads on price, calling itself the highest-rated time tracking software “and it’s 100% free,” with a badge promising unlimited users forever. Author’s screenshot, October 2026.

What it is. Jibble records attendance through personal devices or a shared kiosk, then turns those entries into timesheets for payroll. Picture a warehouse crew clocking in on a tablet by the entrance: everyone gets an individual record, and nobody needs a company laptop.

Key features against Apploye

  • Unlimited free users: Adding an eleventh employee doesn’t trigger a subscription. Apploye’s free Starter plan stops at ten.

  • Location-based attendance: GPS stamps record where mobile clock-ins and clock-outs happen. Geofences restrict entries to designated sites, covering a field-work gap in Apploye.

  • Facial verification: Face scans add an identity check at clock-in. Failed matches can be allowed, flagged for review, or blocked, depending on your settings.

Pricing. Free costs USD 0 for unlimited users, so a ten-person team pays USD 0/month. New accounts start with a 14-day free trial. Paid options include Essential, Growth, and Pro; the applicable annual rate requires an account-level check, and Jibble offers localized pricing in eligible markets.

What costs extra. More than two geofences, multiple work schedules, and group management require a paid plan. Free also limits administration to one admin. A growing headcount stays free; adding separate schedules and supervisors brings you up against those restrictions.

Platforms. Web, Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS, plus a Chrome extension and shared-device kiosk mode.

Pros and cons

Pros

Cons

Free attendance tracking at any team size

Paid rates require an account-level check

Shared kiosk with facial verification

Free includes only two geofences and one schedule

Offline entries sync after reconnecting

Connecteam

What it fixes about Apploye? Connecteam adds GPS-based attendance for frontline teams, including clock-ins restricted to designated job sites.

a screenshot of hero section of connecteam homepage

Connecteam’s hero is built around deskless workers and bundles scheduling, time tracking, communication, and HR into one app. Author’s screenshot, October 2026.

What it is. Connecteam ties mobile time tracking to shift scheduling and employee communication. A cleaning crew, for example, checks its assignments on the phone, clocks in at the client’s building, and submits a checklist with photos before leaving.

Key features against Apploye

  • GPS and geofencing: Apploye doesn’t record clock-in locations; Connecteam adds GPS stamps and geofences that restrict entries to assigned sites.

  • Field documentation: Mobile forms collect inspection results, photos, and signatures. Managers get records of completed work alongside attendance.

  • Pricing beyond ten users: Apploye charges per user on paid plans; Connecteam’s Operations subscriptions start with a flat monthly fee, so each new hire doesn’t immediately increase the bill.

Pricing. The free Small Business Plan covers eligible teams of up to ten users, counting active and archived accounts, with one time clock and one job schedule. Operations Basic starts at USD 29/month, billed annually, for the first 30 users. A ten-person team choosing that paid package pays the same USD 29. There’s a 14-day free trial, plus a more restricted free Limited plan capped at 30 users.

What costs extra. Outside the Small Business Plan, geofencing requires Operations Advanced at USD 49/month, billed annually, covering up to ten sites. Expert costs USD 99/month, billed annually, and adds unlimited geofences and Breadcrumbs route tracking. Both use the same base seat allowance as Basic; additional seats cost extra. Communications and HR upgrades have separate subscriptions, though Operations includes limited access to those hubs.

Platforms. Web, Android, and iOS, with a separate tablet kiosk app.

Pros and cons

Pros

Cons

Mobile forms document work at client sites

Geofencing requires Advanced on paid plans

Extensive free package for eligible teams of ten

Live route tracking requires Expert

Flat base fee allows room for headcount growth

Monitask

What it fixes about Apploye? Monitask includes more frequent screenshot capture than Apploye Elite in its base subscription.

a screenshot of hero section of monitask homepage

Monitask makes no secret of its focus: “Employee Monitoring Software” that tracks computer activity, screenshots, and productivity. Author’s screenshot, October 2026.

What it is. Monitask combines employee time tracking with screenshots and activity reports for remote teams. An agency reviewing contractor hours gets a record of time spent on assigned projects, with screen captures to consult when verifying billed hours.

Key features against Apploye

  • Included screenshot frequency: Monitask includes up to 30 screenshots per hour. Apploye Elite includes 18; its More Screenshots add-on raises that limit to 60.

  • Bundled stealth mode: Pro includes visible and stealth operation. Apploye charges an additional USD 2 per user/month for Stealth on Elite and includes it in Power.

  • App and website tracking: Monitask requires Business at USD 8.99 per user/month, billed annually. Apploye includes this tracking in Elite at USD 4.50.

Pricing. Pro costs USD 6.49 per user/month, billed annually, bringing ten users to USD 64.90/month. There’s no ongoing free plan; the 10-day free trial requires no credit card.

What costs extra. Business adds unlimited integrations and client access. Raising capture to 60 screenshots per hour adds USD 2.40 per license/month at annual rates, bringing the Pro subscription to USD 8.89 per user/month, or USD 88.90/month for ten users. Higher capture frequencies cost more.

Platforms. Web, Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS, plus a Chromebook download.

Insightful

What it fixes about Apploye? Insightful doubles the standard retention period for Apploye’s app and URL activity data, from one year to two.

a screenshot of hero section of insightful homepage

Insightful sells itself as a work data platform, with a Productivity Trends chart splitting each day into productive, unproductive, and neutral time. Author’s screenshot, October 2026.

What it is. Insightful is a workforce analytics platform that records desktop activity and reports on workload distribution. Managers can filter reports by department or individual employee.

Worth knowing: Insightful’s Productivity Trends compares recorded productivity data across matching periods. Historical trend analysis doesn’t establish a forecasting capability. Buyers who need employee wellness scores or productivity forecasts should request a demonstration of those specific outputs.

Key features against Apploye

  • Activity history: Insightful retains activity data for 24 months. Apploye keeps app and URL activity for one year, though its time logs remain available for up to three years.

  • Access controls: SSO and audit logs sit behind a custom Enterprise quote in both products. Insightful’s USD 8 entry price doesn’t include them.

  • Hosting on your infrastructure: Insightful offers on-premise deployment with a 250-license minimum. A 50-person company would still need to purchase that minimum allocation.

Pricing. Workforce Analytics costs USD 8 per seat/month, billed annually. Ten users cost USD 80/month, or USD 960/year. There’s no ongoing free plan, and the seven-day free trial gives you three fewer days to evaluate the software than Apploye’s.

What costs extra. Monthly add-ons per seat include Workspace Security at USD 4, on-demand screenshots at USD 4, increased screenshot frequency at USD 3, screen recording at USD 4, and data warehouse integrations at USD 0.50. Teams that need to record video pay USD 12 per seat/month equivalent: USD 8 plus USD 4, bringing a ten-person subscription to USD 120/month. On-premise deployment carries a separate service fee.

Platforms. Windows and macOS desktop agents, Linux in beta, and a web dashboard. Linux requires X11; Wayland isn’t supported. There’s no mobile tracking agent.

Pros and cons

Pros

Cons

Compare team and individual productivity metrics across reporting periods

SSO and audit logs require an Enterprise quote

Two years of retained data

Recording and advanced screenshot options increase the bill

On-premise deployment available

Linux requires a supported X11 environment

DeskTime

What it fixes about Apploye? DeskTime includes app and website productivity classification in Pro for less than Apploye Elite plus its Activity Insights add-on.

a screenshot of hero section of desktime homepage

DeskTime leads with automatic time tracking for productivity insights, promising in-office visibility into a remote team “without the constant check-ins.” Author’s screenshot, October 2026.

What it is. DeskTime uses automatic time tracking to show how the day breaks down across applications and websites. Team-specific categories let you count social media as productive for a campaign manager, for example, without applying that label across the whole company.

Key features against Apploye

  • Classification in the entry plan: Pro includes URL and app classification at USD 6.42 per user/month, billed annually. At standard rates, Apploye Elite requires the USD 3 Activity Insights add-on, totaling USD 7.50; Power includes the feature at USD 8.

  • Private Time: Employees pause device tracking from the system tray or menu bar, then resume it after handling personal matters. Administrators control availability through account, team, or individual settings.

  • Scheduling costs: DeskTime requires Premium for shift scheduling. Apploye includes scheduling in Elite, so switching for this feature alone increases the subscription cost.

Pricing. Pro costs USD 6.42 per user/month, billed annually, bringing ten users to USD 64.20/month. There’s no ongoing free plan. The 14-day free trial requires no credit card.

What costs extra. Screenshots, shift scheduling, and project-management integrations require Premium at USD 9.17 per user/month, billed annually, or USD 91.70/month for ten users. Google Calendar and Outlook calendar integrations are included in Pro.

Platforms. Web, Windows, macOS, and Linux, plus Android and iOS apps. Automatic computer-activity tracking runs through the desktop agent.

Pros and cons

Pros

Cons

Productivity categories configurable by team

Categories need adjustment to reflect actual duties

Private Time pauses device tracking

Screenshots require Premium

Automatic desktop tracking

Scheduling costs more than Apploye Elite

What it fixes about Apploye? ActivTrak adds workload and capacity analysis for managers who need to decide where to redistribute work.

a screenshot of hero section of activtrak homepage

ActivTrak now pitches “work intelligence for the AI era,” with an activity dashboard that labels each team as under, at, or over capacity. Author’s screenshot, October 2026.

What it is. ActivTrak uses behavioral analytics to examine computer activity collected automatically in the background. Its Productivity Optimization plan flags overutilized and underutilized employees, so an operations manager can review capacity before handing another assignment to the same busy team.

Key features against Apploye

  • Apploye measures activity through keyboard and mouse use; ActivTrak’s Productivity Optimization plan adds focus and collaboration analysis, plus team benchmarks.

  • Apploye includes scheduled screenshots on Elite; ActivTrak offers alarm-triggered screenshots through the Screen Details add-on on eligible plans. Apploye also lets admins disable screenshot capture.

  • Apploye reserves SSO for Enterprise; ActivTrak includes SSO and MFA across its paid plans.

Pricing. From USD 10 per worker/month, billed annually: ten workers cost USD 100 per month equivalent, or USD 1,200 annually. Free covers three workers and 30 days of history, and the 14-day free trial automatically downgrades to Free.

What costs extra. Workforce Management costs USD 15 per worker/month and Productivity Optimization costs USD 17, both billed annually. Screen Details adds USD 2 per licensed user monthly to eligible plans, and API access requires ActivConnect. AI Insights requires a quote. Paid support becomes mandatory above 50 licenses.

Platforms. Web dashboard; Windows and macOS desktop agents; ChromeOS browser agent. Linux users can collect browser activity through the ChromeOS agent, but desktop application activity isn’t captured.

How to choose the right Apploye alternative?

Give each shortlisted tool one assignment from your actual workweek: approving a contractor’s billable hours, for example, or reconciling a crew’s attendance records. Run that assignment under the plan you’d buy. A demo of the top package won’t establish what the basic plan covers.

  • If employee pushback is driving the switch, define the tracking limits. Have a teammate review what the employee monitoring tool records and who can access it. Include Traqq if the team objects to screen capture or productivity scoring. Treat URL tracking and silent tracking as separate decisions; disabling screenshots doesn’t address either one.
  • If you’ve outgrown the free plan, test your next hire. Set up the headcount you expect six months from now. TimeCamp and Jibble both accommodate unlimited users, but basic time tracking alone won’t establish whether the free tier covers your workflow. Test report exports and manager permissions. Time Doctor, Monitask, Insightful, and DeskTime require paid subscriptions after their trials.
  • If add-ons inflate the quote, price one complete workflow. Compare DeskTime Pro against Apploye Elite plus Activity Insights using the same headcount and billing period. Include the connections to your payroll systems, too. A native integration, browser extension, and CSV export involve different amounts of work, even when each vendor lists your software as supported.
  • If work happens on-site, run a full shift through the app. Test Hubstaff or Connecteam for location-dependent work; include Jibble when attendance is the main requirement. Have a supervisor correct a missed clock-in and change an assignment from their phone. That tests shift management beyond the employee’s clock-in screen.
  • If you need deeper productivity analytics, bring a real reporting question. Ask Insightful or ActivTrak to show which team has capacity for another project, then pull reports for a specific department and period. Verify that the quoted package includes those views. For process improvement, use a question such as how much time a recurring approval takes.
  • If security requirements block deployment, get IT’s approval of the proposed setup. Require written confirmation of sign-in controls, audit records, and hosting arrangements. Examine ActivTrak’s paid plans when SSO is the immediate requirement. Insightful’s on-premise option requires at least 250 licenses, so smaller teams still pay for the full allocation.

FAQ

What are the best alternatives to Apploye?

The strongest candidates depend on why you’re switching. Traqq covers time tracking without screen capture or activity scoring. Hubstaff and Connecteam handle field-team requirements, and ActivTrak adds workload analysis and productivity insights. Time Doctor offers detailed activity reports and distraction alerts. TimeCamp connects project hours to client billing.

Is there a free alternative to Apploye?

Yes. TimeCamp and Jibble offer free plans for unlimited users. TimeCamp also supports unlimited projects, covering basic time tracking and basic reporting as the team grows. Connecteam’s Small Business Plan covers up to ten users, and ActivTrak Free supports three workers with 30 days of history. Apploye itself is free for up to ten users, so the relevant difference is what each free tier includes.

What is a good Apploye alternative without employee monitoring?

Traqq records hours without screenshots, activity scores, or app and URL tracking. Employees choose when to track time and can review their records. Managers still get project timesheets and approvals. If screen capture is the only objection, Apploye also lets administrators disable screenshots; that setting alone doesn’t require a switch.

Which Apploye alternatives offer GPS or field tracking?

Hubstaff, Jibble, Connecteam, and TimeCamp offer location-related tracking features. Recording a clock-in location, restricting entries to a job site, and tracking movement during a shift are separate capabilities. Hubstaff and Connecteam combine field attendance with scheduling; TimeCamp’s GPS recording requires a running mobile timer. The required plan depends on the location controls your team needs.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Apploye?

Yes, depending on the features you need. TimeCamp Starter costs USD 3.99 per user per month, billed annually, compared with Apploye Elite at USD 4.50 on annual billing. A lower entry rate doesn’t guarantee the same features: TimeCamp reserves approvals and billable rates for Ultimate. Several monitoring tools in this guide cost more than Apploye.

Which alternatives include screenshots without add-ons?

Time Doctor includes screenshots on Basic, and Monitask includes up to 30 screenshots per hour at no additional charge. DeskTime includes screenshots on Premium, so an upgrade from Pro is required. ActivTrak treats screen capture as a Screen Details add-on on eligible plans. Apploye Elite already includes scheduled screenshots.

What should I check before switching from Apploye?

Verify device support, data migration, and the full cost of your required setup. Export the historical records you need and confirm what the replacement can natively import. Check integrations individually: Hubstaff advertises 35+ integrations across several categories, including project management and payroll, whereas Apploye currently marks QuickBooks as “Coming Soon.” As for unauthorized-site alerts, its Enterprise tier lists custom alerts, but the public pricing page doesn’t specify whether they cover that use case. A demonstration should confirm the behavior. Run the pilot through a complete approval or billing cycle, and review renewal terms.

Which Apploye alternatives combine time tracking and client invoicing?

TimeCamp and Hubstaff both offer time tracking and invoicing. TimeCamp includes invoicing from Starter, but billable rates and labor costs require Ultimate. A sample invoice built from tracked billable hours will show how rates, rounding, and corrections affect the total. Include project budgeting in that test if your agency also needs to compare actual hours against a client’s agreed budget.

Bill clients from Starter

TimeCamp invoicing starts on Starter at USD 3.99 per user per month, billed annually, and screenshots stay off by default.
