The finish time is earlier than the start, so the duration is counted to the next day – like a night shift.
AI Time Tracker is a desktop app for Mac and Windows that helps you fill in your time card.
Type the times exactly as they appear on the clock – for example a shift from 09:00 to 17:00. The duration updates instantly as you type; no Calculate button needed.
If you took an unpaid lunch break, enter its length in minutes and the calculator takes it off the total. Paid breaks stay in the duration because they count as time worked.
The summary shows the duration in hours and minutes, in decimal hours for payroll and in total minutes. Print the result or save it as a PDF for your records.
Working past midnight? Enter the times as they appear on the clock – 22:00 to 06:00 is counted as 8 hours, not a negative number, because a finish earlier than the start means the next day.
Yes. The TimeCamp duration calculator is free, with no sign-up and no download. Work out as many durations as you like, then print the result or save it as a PDF.
Subtract the start time from the end time. From 09:00 to 17:00 is 17 − 9 = 8 hours. With minutes it is easiest to convert both times to minutes first: 17:30 is 1050 minutes, 08:45 is 525, and the difference 525 minutes is 8 h 45 min. The calculator does this instantly as you type.
Enter the times as they appear on the clock. When the finish is earlier than the start – for example 22:00 to 06:00 – the calculator treats the finish as the next day and counts 8 hours, not −16.
Unpaid breaks, such as a lunch break, do not count as time worked – enter them in the break field and they are taken off. Short paid rest breaks stay in the duration, because for payroll they count as hours worked.
Payroll and billing systems usually add up time as decimal hours – 8:30 becomes 8.50. The summary shows both formats side by side. To convert single values the other way round, use the decimal hours calculator.
Yes. The time fields follow your device's clock format – on a 12-hour system you pick times with AM/PM, on a 24-hour system you type military time. The duration is the same either way.
This calculator works out one duration at a time. To add up a whole week of clock-in and clock-out times – with breaks, overtime and a printable time card – use the time card calculator.
Count the part before midnight and after midnight separately, then add them. A shift from 20:30 to 04:15 is 3.5 hours before midnight plus 4.25 hours after – 7 h 45 min in total. Or just type both times here and let the calculator handle the date change.
Yes. Press Print / Save as PDF for a one-page summary of the start and end times, the break, and the duration in hours and minutes, decimal hours and total minutes.
No. The calculator runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent to TimeCamp. Close the page and the values are gone – print or save a PDF if you want to keep them.
